Since 1967, Kempston Ltd. has been transforming sheet metal into large and small precision components that help people and businesses communicate with each other, clinicians to diagnose and treat illnesses, cars to travel more safely, and much more besides.
We combine sophisticated fiber laser metal cutting with many other services to take your components through every stage of realisation – CAD/CAM design, folding, welding, powder coating, paint shop, assembly – turning them into well manufactured, finished products that we can deliver or you can collect.
And we do all this rapidly, flexibly, and intelligently, to keep costs down, productivity high, and lead time short – even when your requirements are complex and urgent.
By investing heavily and consistently to train and upskill our workforce, achieve ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environment) accreditations, and install the most productive and efficient equipment – including our Amada Fiber Laser and 21-tonne tower autoloader – we exceed our customers’ and stakeholders’ expectations every time.
The world doesn’t stand still, and neither do our customers.
We’ve been in business for fifty years because we’ve shown ourselves ready to adapt to our customers’ evolving needs, willing to find innovative solutions to their challenges, and able to change as the world places new demands on how we operate.
For example, we were keen to deliver 24/7 productivity and increased value for money to our customers, so we invested in an industrial laser cutter with huge additional capacity that can run automatically through the night.
This way, customers benefit from much shorter lead times for their laser cut products – and aren’t paying for our lights, heating and operators.
Mindful of a world that is moving beyond ferrous metal, we invested in a nitrogen generator, enabling us to not only laser cut steel, but also aluminium, brass and Zintec too.
Determined to confirm our Board’s long-standing commitment to environmentally responsible business, we also replaced our existing fluorescent lighting with low-energy LED bulbs, and moved over to Euro 6 emissions-compliant delivery vehicles.
Bring on the next fifty years!
Our skilled team of designers can take your drawings in a range of formats – including sketches or samples – and rapidly convert them into CAD/CAM files, from which the finished fabrications can easily be produced.
From these simple initial customer drawings, we’ve manufactured car seats, chassis, cages, control units, switchgear cabinets, lockers, audio desks, trays, panels, doors – in fact, almost anything you can think of – from laser cuttable materials.
But to us this isn’t ‘special project’ or ‘one-off’ territory; this is business as usual – just part of our everyday commitment to deliver the highest-quality product possible, with the shortest possible turnaround times, in the way that’s easiest for you.
Our customers often need custom laser cutting services for complex jobs – which is why we have invested in the teams and the laser cutting technology that can deliver them.
Our vendor-accredited technicians programme our CNC control systems for each specific job, ensuring minimal wastage, maximum cost-effectiveness, and pinpoint accuracy.
Even the most complex laser cutting process, as well as fold, weld, paint and assembly jobs, comes out right first time. But to be absolutely sure, we track, measure and approve your jobs in our production control system at every stage along the way.
And you can choose whether you supply the sheet material to us or whether we source it for you; we’ll always use our significant buying power to obtain the most favourable price for you.
Just a short note to let you know that we shipped our final container on Friday of last week, thereby completing the Walmart program and all on time. As you will know, we never doubted we’d do it but we all expected setbacks and therefore an overrun at the very least. To be frank we had several setbacks, some own goals, some supply chain and one real below the belt quality issue. That said, we avoided overrun and hit the delivery date is a fantastic achievement for which we would like to extend our thanks to you and your team. I am sure we tested patience and goodwill but despite that Kempston Limited performance was outstanding in that there weren’t any disturbances to supply. An amazing job Many thanks to you all
